Ansible Meetup strategy

Ansible Meetups are community-led events where people learn about Ansible, share experience, and build local connections. Each Meetup is part of the wider Ansible community and follows the Ansible Community Code of Conduct.

Goals

  • Make Ansible learning accessible through talks, workshops, demonstrations, and discussion.
  • Build inclusive local communities that connect users, contributors, and people curious about automation.
  • Encourage practical knowledge sharing across experience levels.
  • Make local activity sustainable through shared organising and repeatable processes.

How the event services work

The Ansible Community Forum is the home for event information and discussion. Each event has a Forum topic that acts as its canonical event page. The topic links to Pretix for free RSVP; Pretix stores a backlink to the Forum topic for context. Event details do not synchronize between the services. The production registration service is rsvp.ansible.com.

Organisers keep the Forum topic current and use Pretix for registration-related tasks such as attendee lists and check-in. The Ansible Community Team provisions city spaces, creates event records, and manages access to shared services.

Shared expectations

  • Events are free to attend. Sponsorship may cover reasonable event costs, but does not buy speaking slots, attendee information, or privileged platform access. Discuss sponsorship with the Community Team before making commitments.
  • Content should be educational and welcoming, not a sales pitch.
  • Plan for accessibility and inclusion in venue, online format, speakers, and communications.
  • Explain the Code of Conduct and identify a contact for concerns at each event.
  • Share slides and follow-up resources only with the speaker's consent.
  • Use community channels, including the Forum and relevant Matrix rooms, to keep information accessible and discussion open.

Roles

  • Attendees participate, share feedback, and help make the event welcoming.
  • Speakers provide educational talks, workshops, demonstrations, or discussions.
  • Local organisers coordinate the programme, venue, promotion, event-day experience, and follow-up.
  • Ansible Community Team maintains shared tooling, provisions city access, creates event registrations, and supports organisers.
  • Sponsors and hosts may provide venue, food, or event costs under the shared expectations above.
