What it means to be an organiser¶
Organisers make local Ansible community activity sustainable, inclusive, and useful. They coordinate speakers and venues, communicate with attendees, and help the event run safely. A co-organising team helps avoid relying on one person.
What organisers do¶
- Choose topics with the local community and invite speakers without pressuring them.
- Coordinate the venue or online meeting details, accessibility, schedule, and any event costs.
- Keep the Forum event topic accurate and answer questions there.
- Promote the event and encourage proposals and discussion.
- Welcome attendees, explain the Code of Conduct contact, and handle day-of logistics.
- Share slides, resources, and a recap after the event.
Shared expectations¶
Events must follow the Ansible Community Code of Conduct, be welcoming and accessible, and remain free to attend. Sponsorship supports event costs; it does not buy a speaking slot or access to attendee data. Contact the Ansible Community Team before making sponsorship commitments.
The Community Team creates city spaces and event registrations, manages organiser access, and provides operational support. For a new city, they update and provision the tooling registry; the city agnostic Pretix auth plugin needs no city-specific edit or release. Organisers maintain the event's Forum topic and deliver the local event.
